Assistive Technology

With technology, it seems anything is possible.
Take control of your life and your everyday. Control the heater with your voice. Change the radio station with your eyes. Dictate an email to your family. It’s all possible.
You’ll work with experts in assistive technology, to identify your needs and the technology that will help you do the little things that make a big difference to your environment.

FAQs

Rocky Bay’s Assistive Technology team help you find equipment and technology that make your daily life that much easier. From something simple such as tap turners or jar openers, through to integrated solutions that can control lighting, heating, security, computers, and electrical appliances.

First you’ll need an assessment to determine your needs and goals. This may involve a telephone conversation or face to face assessments to consider your current abilities, joint ranges, and the environments in which you might use the equipment/technology. Assessments can be carried out in our Assistive Technology clinic rooms or in your home, school or workplace as required.

If your needs change, we can provide ongoing support to ensure that your technology continues to work for you. Training can be provided for yourself and others who may support you and we will work with your therapist, support worker or family to help you achieve your goals.

Assistive Technology staff will support you with setting up and configuring your technology specific to your needs and look at ways to integrate it with other equipment in your home school or workplace.

You can access Assistive Technology services if you have an NDIS plan, Disability Services Commission funding, Medicare or if you want to fund your own services. We can also support you through the planning process if you do not have a plan already.
